A Life of Service

A LIFE OF SERVICE

“I used to love working in the garden,” exclaimed Kamalbai from her chair. She did many things when she was more physically able and she still lives to share God’s Word with others.

Raised from childhood at the Mission, Kamalbai completed her education and primary teacher training. She married and with her husband served God in Mumbai. Kamalbai was expecting her first child in 1964 when her husband suddenly died. Filled with grief and fearful of an empty future with a child to raise, Kamalbai returned to the Mission, where she gave birth to a daughter. Soon she settled into the life she had always known.

After recovering from delivery, Kamalbai was assigned to care for 6 handicapped girls. She proved to be patient with these children and with all slow learners. Her loving nature and helpful attitude led her to help everyone around her. Even after retirement, she continued to help others in the hospital.

Kamalbai is now unable to leave her home. Yet her strength as a woman of God and prayer warrior has not diminished. When she finds a particular verse that touches her heart, she writes it down so she can remember and share with others.
