At Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission, the purpose which drives the day to day endeavors is to provide a Christ centered home where destitute women and children, irrespective of their background, are accepted, cared for, transformed, and empowered to be salt and light in the society.
This is what we are judged by. This is how we grade our effectiveness. This true story is just one of many, repeated over the years that demonstrates God’s faithfulness at the Mission.

Over two decades ago, a little girl who had been painfully abused and desperately needed a place to call home walked inside our gates with her guardian and since then the Mission has been family to her. We
were able to stand like a rock to help this child receive the love, care and acceptance she longed for. With all the physical, emotional and spiritual nurture poured out by her mentors, Shakra* grew up into a beautiful, confident young lady. All through her growing up years, Shakra had a great burden to carry on the ideals of the Mission in the outside world. In God’s perfect timing, a Christian young man with a great passion for missions sought a godly wife and the Lord wonderfully brought them together. They are now parents of three delightful daughters.
This couple is making a deep impact through the ministry they started in one of the populous states of India. Even though the culture, language, and lifestyle were different from theirs, nothing deterred them from their vision. Their hard labor and strenuous efforts are bearing fruit. Reaching out to these needy people, a school project (which now boasts a student population of 350) was started to build a bridge to reach the children of this area and now they are seeing rapid growth. Truly Shakra is ‘Salt and Light’ in the outside world. Praise the Lord for this trophy of His grace!
