FS: A Bigger Family
Flat Sujata is a little girl who, like Flat Stanley, is as thin as a piece of paper because she got flattened by a box of mangoes. Flat Sujata moved to Mukti Mission where she loves her new life and all the friends she has made. These stories will help you understand what life is like for children at the Mission – children about the same age as YOU! We hope that you enjoy these stories of Flat Sujata and her friends so that you can pray for them every day. *Note: These stories are inspired by real-life stories from Mukti Mission.
“Who’s this new baby?” asked Flat Sujata to Mrs. Pawar, the nursery coordinator. She was holding a 9-month-old on her lap. The baby nibbled on his teething toy and looked curiously at her and Sami.
“Is this a baby boy? He’s so cute!” chimed Sami, Flat Sujata’s bestie, gently holding the little hand.
“This is Jaswin, girls. His father loves him very much. However, he is not able to afford giving Jaswin the care he needs. So his father trusted Mukti Mission to also be Jaswin’s family! Would you and the girls help me welcome our new little one?”
“Of course!” Flat Sujata and Sami said together. All the Mukti sisters were excited to have a new baby brother to love!
Flat Sujata and Sami saw moments when baby Jaswin felt sad and would cry for his father. But they and Jaswin’s other new sisters found ways to cheer him up. They sang to Jaswin, read stories to him, played peek-a-boo and other hand games, and pointed to beautiful things outside, like the flowers, birds, or the blue sky.
Jaswin eventually saw the girls and housemothers as his own family. His father was happy to hear he was starting to feel comfortable and visited Jaswin at Mukti. The little boy was in a good place; he not only had his father coming regularly to see him and be in his life, but he also had new mothers, sisters, and friends at Mukti to support him every day. He felt safe and knew he was loved.

As he grew, Jaswin became known at Mukti as the cute toddler running around and making vehicle noises that reminded him of his father’s old truck. Everyone, from the Mission Director to the youngest child adores Jaswin. He thrives in his nursery class and spends time with Flat Sujata, Sami, and his other Mukti siblings. Jaswin’s father is proud of his son’s growth and is a devoted parent supporter of Mukti Mission.
