Quietly, with bowed heads, two young ladies approach. Looking at the two forces a double-take. Who is who? There’s no denying it: Devani* and Dharani* are twins!

While they’re both quiet around older people, their housemother declares they talk incessantly in their Flower Family home with their sisters. Devani, the older twin by a few minutes, enjoys her studies in Marathi but finds math difficult. Her favorite pastime? Walking with friends.

Dharani, a quiet girl with a soft voice, speaks only briefly but takes everything in with her eyes. Her favorite school subject is English; she also finds math a hurdle. Dharani enjoys playing games outside.

Although their mother now has mental issues, their grandmother comes to take them home on school holidays and they enjoy their time with her. Their mother, who works as a housekeeper, visits them there. Their father, who remarried, lives far away and is not involved in their lives.

The girls originally lived in one of Mukti’s Orchard Projects, but now live on the main campus. Through their houseparents’ lifestyle, they learned about Jesus and His love for them. Devani will inform people, “God listens to my prayers!” She trusts Him to hear and respond to her cares.

Their housemother, who herself grew up at Mukti, enjoys having the girls in her family: “They are nice, helpful girls and get along well with their sisters. They have a lot of energy but also a deep respect for authority.” She continues, “Both girls pitch in regularly regarding household needs, a huge help for me with such a large family!”
