Mukti Mission US began supporting the Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission in 1888. Today we continue this legacy of transformation and hope. We exist to help connect you with the opportunity to make a difference in lives at Mukti.
The residents at Mukti range in age from birth to over eight-five but the stories are the same. Individuals come to Mukti to escape poverty, find relief from abuse, and be comforted by acceptance after abandonment and rejection. Mukti provides safety, nutrition, education, career training, and healthcare as these individuals move out from the bonds of poverty.
Your engagement with the residents of Mukti will help open doors to this pathway of hope. There are many ways for you to engage and this page will set you on a fulfilling journey as a Champion for Mukti.

Where the Unthinkable is Commonplace
There are communities where women are kept under house arrest, providing sexual services for ‘clients.’ Where ‘guards’ profit from the money paid by the clients while the women are given only the bare essentials for survival. Where there is virtually no chance for escape, and if someone dares to run away and is caught, brutal physical abuse often is their punishment.
