YOU and Sheela*

YOU and Sheela*

Seeing Sheela* today, it’s hard to imagine that she spent her first months at Mukti Mission crying almost constantly. Born in Nepal, Sheela’s father deserted the family, and her mother couldn’t handle her emotional issues, the care of her other children, and the special care needed for Sheela. She desperately needed Mukti’s intervention.

Not only are there no more tears, but Sheela now has a twinkle in her eyes and has made numerous improvements: building muscle and walking around much more, learning to eat pureed food (she drank only milk or liquids for her first 4 years of life since she cannot chew), and gleaning more and more from the Special Needs School. She used to point to the water jug when she wanted a drink, but she has learned a sign for “pani” (Marathi word for water) and uses it now. How heartwarming it is to see her content, learning, and developing!

YOUR investments in Mukti Mission have made Sheela’s life blossom!
